Army DU License Application for Clean Up of forgotten 1960s
M101 Davy Crockett Training Rounds.
Hawaiian activists have made a big deal about the Army's admission
that it found that these Davy Crockett M101 training rounds with DU
fins simulating the weight of the tactical nuclear weapon. They
claim that the Army lied to them for years, but if you read this
application, you will find that the Army basically forgot about
ever having fired these training rounds in the 1960's. Then they
found some in Hawaii and they filed an application with the NRC
(which did not exist in the 1960's when these training rounds were
lobbed into a firing range) to possess and clean up these rounds on
firing ranges wherever they might be.
